Born Frankfurt/Main, Germany, 1939. As a child drawings of animals and cartoons, later book illustrations, metal works, figurative paintings in surrealistic stile. 1953 to 1954 private lessons in drawing by Maximilian Klewer, retired professor of Berlin Academy of Arts.1968 to 1970 in the US,
Madison (Wis), Southwest, New England. Back in Germany, 1971 to 1974 member of the Tübingen Artist's Association. Afterwards work in Switzerland, Heidelberg, Westphalia. Lives now in Freiburg im Breisgau close to French border.
Exhibitions in Tübingen, Bielefeld, Freiburg, Basel and in Halle i. W. in the Museum for the Art of Childhood and Youth of Important Artists. Works of the last years "Metallic Art", Paintings, Collages, Drawings.
I have been doing artwork since 65 years. As a youngster I did studies on animals and their biotops, book illustrations, and cartoons (see www.hal-jos.org). In the last years I did work shown in this portfolio: METALLIC ART designates the use of metal in collages and paintings. Many of my collages are in wooden boxes. Some of my paintings are on worn boards from old furniture or construction sites.

This year's collage deals with HELL. It is composed of images imagined by the Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch around 1500, taken from the tryptic "The Garden of Delight", its right wing with the subtitle Hell (buildings on fire) and of internet documents from Aleppo, the real Hell of the year 2016. Original 15cm x 21cm.
