Toni Danchik

As a Southern California Artist living close to the ocean I draw my inspiration from my walks on the beach with the beautiful rock formations and changing tides, the effects of light at different times of the day and even seasons. I enjoy observing people as they are having fun, like swimming, playing with their kids or taking their dogs for a walk. I feel so fortunate to be able to draw from the rich imagery around me like the beautiful Eucalyptus trees that line our parkways and grace our hills. My biggest frustration when coming upon a beautiful scene during my every day running around is not being able to stop my car, pull over and set up easel to paint. Each scene dictates how I would approach my painting to best communicate its essence. I like to keep my brushwork expressive and not over worked to maintain a sense of spontaneity and energy to my work.

Peaceful Headlands “Peaceful Headlands”

This painting is done at an area called "Strands" of the Headlands. The morning light reflecting on the rocks and the water, brings out the vibrant colors of the scene. The person meditating on the beach brings into perspective the scale of the headlands in the background. This painting is 24 x 30" in size. Walk on the Beach, Treasure Island “Walk on the Beach, Treasure Island”

A couple walking on the beach at Treasure Island, talking about the events of the day. This is a scene that most people can relate to as they put themselves in the position of the couple in the painting.
