ABOUT
Seylech was born in Lucerne in 1966.
Early on in life he became interested in color, form, and art in general. After finishing an apprenticeship as baker / confectioner and basic military training he applied at the Lucerne school for arts and crafts. After being rejected he started an unusual career as an artist. Permeated by an inner fire he cut his own path alone. He became an autodidact and immersed himself in the study of art, visited art museums and galleries, sketched and painted.
In 1992 he met his wife, whom he married in 1994. Encouraged by her he became a free-lance artist in 2000. This was a very challenging period of his life – considering three children being born in those years.
Seylech’s technique is free and direct, and being endowed with a flair for color, form, and tension he creates very expressive works. He applies oil colors in paste-like form onto canvasses and works with spatula, paint brush, and sometimes bare hands. An artist who has found his unique way of expression.
Since he lives in close contact with nature and dwells daily in his gardens, he is inspired by the beauty of heaven and earth. Consequently he works with natural materials like wood, stone, and gold among others. This is also the reason why he interprets the sun and the universe in manifold and multi-faceted ways.
He has created about 1600 works of art over the course of the last twenty years that bear witness to his immense creative power. He has sold more than 1300 works which are on display in various practices, centers, hospitals, company and bank buildings, and private homes worldwide.
Seylech lives and works in Brienzwiler in Switzerland. His studio and art galleries in Brienzwiler and Brienz may be visited daily by appointment only.
