Baton Rouge based artist, Betty Efferson, decided she wanted to paint 18 years ago after attending a Plein Air workshop and has painted almost every day since. Betty is predominantly self-taught, although she has learned from workshops through the years. Beginning with landscapes, Betty experimented with impressionism before discovering abstracts a few years ago. Betty is able to follow her gut and tackle a wide variety of mediums, subject matter and style. As a high-energy person, she comes to the canvas and clearly communicates her feelings, emotions, motivated by self- expression, the joy of art, and being able to share that art. Her art has been awarded, recognized and included in juried shows in Louisiana, Texas, South Carolina, Ohio and New York.
