BACKGROUND
Izmir Educational Institute Graphical Main Arts Department graduate Sevindik Yalcin, had begun working in Izmir State Opera and Ballet as Desinator in 1984 ( https://secure.dobgm.gov.tr/opera2009/devopera.asp ).
She had undertaken design and preparation of posters, costumes, decors and realization of many plays that were staged during the many years she had worked in Opera and Ballet.
She had undertaken Stage Design Education in Salzburg Summer Academy in 1993.
Along with her professional role in the State Opera and Ballet, she has continued to perform my art personally, holding exhibitions in Turkey and Abroad.
HER ART
The compositions designed through the inspiration of a variety of press techniques in the department she had studied, as well as effects of the Anatolian Civilization's traditions and miniature art's traces are seen her paintings as stories, tales and symbols.
Her late works are a result of her interest in the art of 'Camalti' ('UnderGlass') which has been getting forgotten with time. With the desire of endearing the art of 'Camalti' to future generations; tales of our childhood, traditions and ceremonies of Anatolian Culture are showing up in Sevindik Yalcin's new exhibition as a reflection of her prior works.
