Born in Milan, always passionate about drawing and art since her childhood, Simona Zecca is a self-taught artist and has always continued to cultivate her passion for art even during her studies and in the period in which she worked in the field of marketing.
She always loves studying new media and various techniques and over the years she has experimented with various, from graphite to watercolor, from acrylic and airbrush to oil.
In 2015 she decided to leave her office job, following the ever-present call of art to which she began to devote herself full-time from 2016, initially customizing mainly helmets and motorcycle parts with airbrush and at the same time expressing hersself through her paintings on canvas.
In 2019 she began to exhibit her works, immediately receiving an excellent response from public and critics and obtaining various awards.
She loves realism and hyperrealism as long as they do not border on the mere perfect reproduction of reality but instead as a tool to deepen the soul of the subject. She prefers female portraits but is also exploring a more conceptual portrait style. She has always been particularly focused on the expressiveness of the gaze.
Currently, she is working on a series of female portraits of women who show, in their gestures and expressions, feelings of loneliness, sadness and melancholy. The series dedicated is called "Heartbreak Hotel", like the famous song by Elvis Presley. Each work, a room. Each room, a broken-hearted woman.

Paintings made with acrylic/airbrush on canvas
This painting was made portraying the famous Afghan Girl whose picture was taken by Steve McCurry. It is the central painting of my series dedicated to women eyes and to the stories they have to tell. While all other women portrayed were famous for artistic reasons and I painted them in a pop-art way, Sharbat is the only hyperrealistic one because I could have not portrayed her in any other way as she has become a symbol of women and children facing war and so her painting needed to be as real as possible.
It is a 50x70 acrylic/airbrush on canvas.
This was a portrait I made on commission. It is 50x70 acrylic/airbrush on canvas.
