Creating my artwork is my spiritual practice. I listen to jazz, specifically music with a tonal landscape like my artwork. My work focuses on surface articulation as it melds acrylic, glass and rock. At the same time I focus on different color energies and in my current work in the varied light energies.
This painting is a leap into the realm of light energy. I love the light resonance created by juxtaposing different sizes of glass together to form little pockets of energy that project energy out to the viewer. I have found that by adding iridescent mylar, the light energy is further enhanced.
Pretty in Pink is a sister piece to Hello Sunshine. This piece was created to explore the power of light diptychs. I chose the same tonality that Hello Sunshine was created in but in pink. Both pieces use glass frit for the base color. Thermal glass and Iridescent mylar picks up the color of the pink of the glass!
This titillating piece connotes the Miami heat as it rises off the sand. I began with a holographic foil that picks up the colors off the four layers of different glasses. The pink acrylic paint creates the rhythm of the composition that is balanced with the use of colored chunks of glass. Epoxy resin adds an overall gloss to the piece.
This vibrant piece connotes the colors of the Brazilian Carnival!
