Claudio Scandura

Claudio Scandura

Location: Italy

Since child demonstrates skill and passion for the drawing and is attracted by books rich in illustrations and pictures of works of past artists. But this predisposition does not lead him to do art studies. Artistic career begins nineteen years after the studies, painting oil landscapes on small glass plates. Activities that do not last long, only a few months.
Scandura feels the need to do something different and so self-taught decides to experiment with oil painting on canvas. To deepen his own pictorial knowledges he begins to attend artistic environments and independently study the artists of the past and their way of working
Particularly interesting are the Venetian viewers of the 700 who painted the Venetian lagoon and exalted a bright and vibrant Venice of life.
The Impressionists who depicted the french countryside but above all the life in Paris, a city of elegance and fashion, walks and fun along the Senna.
The American artists of the 900, over all Edward Hopper and Norman Rockwell, who in their works impressed realistic scenes of contemporary society.
In 1991, Scandura exhibited for the first time in an Art exhibition and began to become acquainted as an artist and to make known his way of working.
He paints on the canvas billiards room and then, over the years, golf courses, interiors, city streets, glimpses of Venice. The artist uses a realistic, incisive and modern language, making his works accessible to anyone.
For Scandura, the work serves to tell something about colors and tries to do it as clearly as possible so anyone can understand the meaning of what he is looking at.
He then develops a hyper-realistic style, not cold, patinated, exasperately photographic, but made of strong brush strokes and shades that, blending together, give a sense of reality and harmony.
Scandura will always be present in the Italian art scene, but also abroad, and his works will be kept in public and private collections.
