Lynne Riding works out of a studio based in Charleston, SC, where she has been a part of the art scene for the past twenty five years.
Her abstract paintings have been included in numerous exhibitions at gallery spaces, universities, as well as museums throughout the USA, with a record of exhibition in states such as SC, NC, FL, NM, AZ, and OK.
A childhood spent in Mid Wales instilled in Riding, a love of landscape and, certain awe for the power and fluctuations of the elements. An inveterate traveler of both land and sea, she draws on these experiences in her work.
On moving to the USA and Charleston, SC, and while continuing to develop her own work, she held positions in academia including, professor of studio art at the College of Charleston, for ten years, followed by nine years in a position as a faculty member and academic chair of department at the Art Institute of Charleston, SC.
Riding continues to develop her own work and was honored to be included in the exhibit, “Abstract Art in SC, 1949-2012”, State Museum, Columbia, SC, in 2012.

Riding has been the recipient of art residencies at The Sedona Arts Colony, AZ The Lucid Art Foundation, Inverness, CA, the Beaufort Arts Council, and the Spring Island Trust. She has been recognized with several awards, including the SC Coastal Conservation League.
This series of work is called Hiraeth, meaning "longing" in Welsh. My work generally stems from a sense of place and this work endeavors to draw on my roots and a feel for the landscape in which I spent my formative years.
