When Charisse was young, she grew up with nature all around her. She was interested in ants, spiders turtles, and every animal you can imagine. She rode horses, took goats on walks, and she always knew that nature and art would be what she would do with her life.
In school the classes she excelled in were physical education and art. Even before she started school, she would empty out the cereal boxes to be able to do the paint by numbers on the back of the box.
Being self-taught, Charisse experimented with all kinds of mediums and drew everything that was of interest. Most of her life she tried to make her paintings or drawings look exactly like the subject matter. But then in 2015, new ideas started to circulate in her mind. She began experimenting and studying artists that used color in nontraditional ways.
The change from realism to contemporary made her excited to paint like when she was a child. It was challenging, rewarding and fun! Charisse defiantly became a better artist because she was not just copying what she saw, she was creating paintings with her imagination. Because she uses vibrant colors instead of traditional colors people look at her paintings differently. She challenges their minds to see things in a different light.
Her paintings make people look twice and she is told her paintings make people feel happy.
