Born in 1953 in Shiga Prefecture, calligrapher Yugo Nishikawa is active in the field of vanguard calligraphy while also serving in a temple as chief priest. Nishikawa expresses his own spirit through calligraphy that is not text. With international participations in group exhibitions, Nishikawa's popular works are a pursuit of his own unique world of bokusho (avant-garde calligraphy) .
