Born in Wakayama Prefecture in 1935, Hanamoto is a photographer and a member of the All-Japan Association of Photographic Societies. Hanamoto also serves on the Japan Artists Association board of directors. He captures festivals, events, and familiar casual scenes and moments from his home area of Wakayama,turning them into sublime works of art.
