Born in Akita Prefecture, Setsuka Nakagawa began creating calligraphic art after being praised for her calligraphy by a teacher in elementary school. Producing pieces composed of supple brush strokes delineating Chinese characters, Nakagawa has held solo exhibitions overseas in locations including New York and Saint Petersburg, to strong acclaim.
