Artist Statement - Marcus Luconi I am a photographer in love with images produced with the human figure, portraits, environments with natural light, mixture of lights. All light is fundamental and used in my art. Elemental, a photographic project created in 1996 that lasted until 2005, unites the human with the environment. Photographed in natural light and eventually used a flashlight to highlight important spots. Produced on the Set, location of the photos, the work consists of original photography, without pre-production montages. My focus in photography is the human figure, where professional models have always been present, more capable of directing on stage and letting themselves be carried away by the interaction with the environment. It is important to mention that the photos were taken with artistic makeup and art complements on the models' bodies, excellent work by a professional specializing in this art. Elemental is a current project even today, where more and more people talk about the environment and we must keep talking. The work was carried out with color transparent photographic film and medium format cameras. Subsequently, the photos were digitalized in high resolution, allowing large prints to be made on fine art paper. My art is based on original and creative photographic technique. Forms found in nature, such as Symbiosis, Mimicry and Camouflage, were used as an image reference, enhancing respect between species. Man cannot take over all forms of life, he must respect and collaborate so that Nature follows his path, Flora, Fauna and Humanity. The Human Being and the Environment. Respect between species.

MLBH_Transcendental_Atacama “MLBH_Transcendental_Atacama”

Transcendental Surreal, Atacama
Transcendental Surreal, as the name suggests, the idea is to use several images made by me in places, trips and research of locations, all around a central idea. A model photographed in the studio with inspiration from the future or even from a utopian, magical moment, where the shapes of nature and objects only make sense in an imaginary, surreal reality.

Elemental SwanWoman

Humans and the environment, theme of the Elemental series. There is the relationship between man and fauna and flora, using symbiosis as a figure of expression, the environment exists with this harmonious relationship.
The image of the Swan Woman, was the first production created to begin the series in the autumn of 1997, aims to draw attention, in addition to the beauty and softness of the photography, the care we must take with a region called Lagoa do Peixe, located in southern coast of Brazil, between the sea and Lagoa dos Patos, the largest freshwater lagoon in the world.
Every year birds migrate from south to north and vice versa.
This Lagoa do Peixe location, due to its shallow depth, and very rich in nutrients, shrimps, crustaceans and small fish, is ideal for migratory birds to feed and rest during their journey.
I chose the Swan to represent in this photo the beauty, softness and great resistance of this bird that leaves Patagonia, in the extreme south, feeds in Lagoa do Peixe, and continues its journey to the North.
Photographed with transparent color film and a Hasselblad camera, digitized with a CMYK cylindrical Hell scanner, in 1997.

ML_Elemental_Mangrove_009 “ML_Elemental_Mangrove_009”

The Mangrove Man The Elemental collection began in 1996, the human and the environment, since then it already had this focus, the relationship between humans and fauna and flora. The environment is only possible with this symbiotic and harmonious relationship between species. The photo shoot is always a small group of people directed and guided to look for the best way to interact with the environment. They harmonize for an expressive result of beauty, integration and awareness of care for our world. The model in the photograph had an exemplary attitude of body and mind towards the nature around him. The ecosystem between the sea and the coast, has countless small rivers, lakes, forests, which contribute in a completely necessary way to the health and strengthening of fauna and flora. Caring for mangroves demands more and more of our attention, as healthy mangroves generate life for the sea and land. Photographed with color positive film, Pentax 6x7cm camera, Velvia 50 Iso film. Scanned on Hell Cylinder Scanner CMYK, high resolution for large enlargements and prints on fine art paper weighing 300g or more.

ML_Elemental_Symbiosis “ML_Elemental_Symbiosis”

Elemental, Symbiosis,
In 1997, as one of the first essays in the series on nature and the human element. We find in this image what represents our way of expressing symbiosis, the comfort we can have in nature, demonstrating respect for fauna and flora, as well as for ourselves, our daily lives. Our model is perfectly at ease and showing all her affection and affection by snuggling against a fallen log on the path. We know that even that piece of fallen and apparently dead tree will generate more life, protecting small animals and providing nutrients for thousands of beings that germinate and start a new life. Photographed with transparent colored film and a Pentax 6x7cm camera. Originally scanned using a Hell CMYK scanner, in high resolution. Original that allows large prints on fine art paper weighing 300g or more.
