The artist, Carola Paschold, well-known for her cycle of „Provence“ paintings and the accompanying painting excursions, has returned to her roots, painting portraits once again.
Classical large-size oil paintings showing pointillist impressions following the POP ART represent the expression of her unconventional portraits. Countless dots in combination with painted areas, provide light reflexes and soft transitions.
Her labour-intensive style has certain parallels with her former Provence cycle, with just a small paintbrush in use most of the time for the large-size portraits.
„Using provocative, mainly large-size close-ups, combined with strong shades of color, the artist catches the play of reality versus abstraction together with the characteristic features of the sitting model.“
