When Ranit was young, he did not feel much attraction to painting. With age, he found was interest growing in it. He took admission into art college in due time and thereby entered the vast arena of art world, both passionately and professionally. Painting showed me a way of communication, of expressing emotions, in the language of lines and colors. It gives me space to breathe, to feel the roots of my existence more ardently, to move on with life.
Ranit love to explore the endless variety of Indian art and culture, the sentiments of Indian people. Ranit love the theme of ‘unity in diversity’ of our country. Myriad minds, colors, races, religions, lifestyles merge together into one and create one great harmony. It inspires me to work and speak from the heart.
Ranit love to experiment with the subjects and themes that have their roots in my country and culture. This is why he pick up images of Gods or Goddesses, women, sadhus (saints), children, life of common people etc. Sometimes he experiment with natural landscapes, rural scenes and cityscapes. However, in this series, he have tried to focus on religious subjects.
Buddha Series: The Buddha is a world-acclaimed icon of peace and serenity. Meditation is the basis of His infinite beauty and grace. This has been the theme of many of my works. The current series shows the Buddha in many aspects, where He is shown either in seated or in standing posture. He has been shown with a dove, a symbol of peace. He is surrounded with dry leaves, as if He has shunned all Desires for materialistic life; or with lotus buds, which will mature into fullness with the dawn of Realization. Sometimes the halo of divinity shines behind Him and His face is bright with the light from the Self within.
Ganesha Series: Lord Ganesha is another favorite theme of mine. Ranit have tried to explore this theme from the traditional Indian view where the Lord is regarded as Siddhidata (One who brings success). The current series shows Him blessing his devotees or enjoying himself in playful mood. At times, He is dancing with sweets in hand. Sometimes He is lost within Himself while playing flute.
