I enjoy observing the world around me – people watching, and turning my observations into studies of what lies beneath the face presented to the world; capturing the moment when defenses are down.
I like to make effective use of my love of color and my ability to manipulate textures. I want the viewer to be able to feel the emotion of the work and the physical power combined with subtlety and depth, to make that emotional connection come alive.
In order for me to produce an artwork, the subject must captivate me. I must be able to envisage beautiful, strong colours and shapes. I seem to be drawn to faces, hands, and eyes, both animal and human. I want the viewer to look at my work and feel the emotion of it. Once I have chosen my subject, I work fairly quickly to capture the feeling of the moment.
