Small Village in Umbria, oil on cardboard and wood, 30 by 40 cm, 2001 and 2009: In terms of its history of origin, this picture should be part of volume 3, in which I have included my pictures on building alterations. The continuation of a particular picture onto the frame gives the original an additional spatial dimension which elevates my painting. This is not true for this one but leads to my new series “It Used to Be Better”, which is addressed to people who occasionally say that to me. They, however, did not use to care about my paintings either. At least I did not notice.
