I am an abstract artist working with painting and photography. I take things that normally are easily recognizable and abstract them into something else. Showing in my work how each person has their own perceptions of things and how they can be different but both correct, when it is true to the beholders eye then it is true to them. I want viewers to be able to experience it differently based on their own personal experiences. I aim to achieve a confusion of layers, where the hierarchy is uncertain and it is an atmospheric space one can dwell in thoughtfully. I use specific themes in my work to put you in two types of spaces: oceanic and galactic. In my paintings these spaces merge and create an experience for the viewer of visually translating my emotions into a tangible space.
Francis Bacon said artists are simply trying to make sense of a swirling cloud of confusion inside them. For me personally home is where your heart is, I have lived in three different states and another country for a time so I am familiar with making myself at home wherever I may be. What helps me stay grounded is being able to express indescribable feeling through my paintings. My mother was born and raised in Florida so I have always felt a strong connection with the ocean and its many creatures. Water and the textures of oceanic beings inspire me constantly in my work. While my father and I watched sci-fi shows every night together while I was growing up, it created this great fascination and awe of space. I have a great love for both of parents, however they divorced when I was young and I always had to choose between them. So this is a place for me I get to collide how I feel into a single place. Home is not separate but it comes together as one. So my home is where my heart is and my heart is where my art is.
