BY THE DEEP TEAL SEA by Joanna Ruggiero

Currently I am exploring and experimenting with Analog Photography and Androidography. I am working with a Holga plastic body camera using 120 film with less than bare minimum adjustments and a 1980's Fuji 35 millimeter point and shoot. The film I use varies from premium arthouse film to stock film. I also use the camera on my Samsung S24 Plus phone. The bulk of my work is night photography. My interest and focus is using the available light from vehicle headlights and street lights to see how this irradict light source impacts my subject matter. I use manual settings and shoot day for night with the S24. The quadruple plus imagery is created using reflections off of and thru backlit windows. They are a single shot frame. Switching to the Holga camera or the Fuji either just before sunset or Sunrise multiple shots at different times throughout the day while slowly forwarding the film create beautiful multiples.
The human eye will not see the distortion in color
that the camera lens sees when the light from headlights on vehicles passing in the night creates. It's always a surprise. The plastic body cameras have light leaks and.this additional source of unpredictable light is always amazing.
