This piece is about the raw rough emotions we are feeling now with COVID, BLM and the riots and cancel culture. I wanted it to be fast and lose and raw. The face could be someone wearing a homemade mask that is supposed to be cheerful. But yet all the darkness and anger and deep scratches down into America’s flesh can almost be felt as well.
