Capella, Callisto, and Canopus are a series of three figure paintings I'm presently in the process of painting in honor of all nude artist's models. Each painting has been named after a heavenly body in our universe and allegorically represents one of three stages in our lives. Capella is named after one of the biggest, brightest stars in our night sky. She allegorically represents the innocence of youth. Callisto is named after one of Jupiter's largest moons that scientists believe may have an underground ocean. She allegorically represents the adventures of adolescence. Canopus is named after one of the brightest star that can be seen in the southern hemisphere. She allegorically represents the awakening adult when the memories of childhood flicker in our minds like lightening in the night. Some preparatory studies are included in the series as well.
