This a portfolio of rice paper paintings inspired by the Song Dynasty, the premier period of Chinese landscape painting. I have always been impressed
with Japnese/Chinese calligraphy, but some 10 years ago I was fortunate enough to see an exhibition of Chinese landscape painting. For 30 years
my style of painting has been pop 60's style but, I have longed to study and produce works that have an Asian influence , but my interpretation is strickly
Western in style. These paintings are on rice paper painted with sumi ink, watercolor, gold dust paint and fabric. The fabric is a nod to the beautiful
silk brocade mountings so typical of Asian scroll paintings.
