Internal dialogue is a silent fly within the walls of our skin, constantly buzzing through our thoughts to rip and re-assemble them. They become manipulative, cluttered, irrational, fantastical, fogged, confusing – an old wooden roller coaster whiplashing you constantly. Never before have I sat with myself to fully face this fury, but when a point in my life came that I realized how much I have neglected my own soul, I decided to face the beauty as well as the beast. Through trial and error, these portraits portray an investigation of our silenced thoughts with the use of quirky symmetry, blurred captures, and a sense of interaction with self. Turning the camera around to see what I have hidden away for so long under my skin, “Mind Chatter” is a series of self portraits where I can set a stage for this personal yet universal struggle that is within us all.
