WINNER: ARTIST OF THE YEAR 2010

posted by Valery Koroshilov

Artists & Illustrators Magazine (UK) voted Valery Koroshilov's new painting "Ecce Homo" the overall winner of the national competition "Artist of The Year 2010". Published: Artists & Illustrators, September 2010, p. 33. Chosen among over 3,500 entries, this picture has been praised by the jury for its outstanding painterly qualities. THE JUDGES’ VERDICT Throughout the judging process, Valery’s painting was the one that we returned to again and again. Our first impression was that the three boys appeared cute and charming, but repeat viewings intrigued us: is there something more sinister afoot? The technique is also incredibly accomplished, with the subtle shifts in skin tone and his command of colour particularly impressing our judges. Valery is a worthy winner in arguably the strongest category.

If you want to see good works of art, please, take a minute to check out the book "International Contemporary Masters- Volume IV", an art publication curated by Mrs. Despina Tunberg, of WWAB publishers, CA, USA, 2011. The book is a juried annual catalogue featuring a select group of international artists, me included, who are actively working and exhibiting worldwide. High quality images of the art works, bios and artists' statements have been gathered to give a better sense of what we've been creating lately. It is available at major bookstores such as Barnes&Noble and online from Amazon and from WWAB website. More about artist Silvana LaCreta Ravena at: www.silvanaravena.com
