THE EXTRAVAGANCES OF AN IMAGINARY GARDEN

posted by EDWIN ROJAS

This artwork reflects on the return and coexistence with animals, birds, and insects in a world where nature and human life intertwine in a dance of harmony. However, this scenario is not exempt from the visual and conceptual saturation that defines our era. The piece serves as a mirror of our time, where images from television screens, cell phones, and vintage video games invade everyday spaces, creating a superimposition of realities that challenge our perception. The setting of the artwork unfolds as a theater of infinite possibilities, where the absurd ceases to be a marginal concept and becomes the driving force of our existence. Here, the illogical and the fantastical coexist with the mundane, forming a universe where anything can happen. This apparent visual chaos invites us to question the nature of our interaction with the environment and digital media, exploring how these images shape us and make us reflect on our own identity and relationship with the world. Animals, birds, and insects symbolize a return to the essential, to the organic and instinctive, while references to vintage games and technological elements evoke nostalgia and the impact of digital narratives on our lives. The artwork becomes a space for dialogue between the natural and the artificial, between the tangible and the virtual, where life together is enriched and transformed through these multiple layers of meaning. As a whole, this piece celebrates the human capacity to find meaning in the unexpected and the irrational, reminding us that the richness of existence lies in embracing and inhabiting contrasts. It invites us to look beyond the screens, toward a horizon where the absurd is not only possible but necessary for living fully.

"SEDUCTION: THE RETURN OF THE BIRDS"

posted by EDWIN ROJAS

This work reflects on the delicate balance between nature and human presence, taking as its starting point a phenomenon observed during the pandemic: the return of birds, along with other animals and insects, to spaces that had been occupied and transformed by humans. In a world on pause, where cities fell silent and human activities came to an almost complete halt, nature began to reclaim its place. This return of birds, with their songs and flights, became a symbol of resilience, reminding us that the natural environment endures even in the face of our constant intervention. The work captures this moment of rediscovery, where the absence of humans allowed wildlife to flourish in places that once seemed lost forever.

BURROWS ARE NOT FOR BLUE RABBITS

posted by EDWIN ROJAS

The exhibition "Burrows Are Not for Blue Rabbits" explores the tension between the conventional and the extraordinary, between the safe and the unknown. The burrow, an archetypal symbol of refuge and protection, is presented here as a space that limits and contains, designed for those who adapt to pre-established environments. However, the "blue rabbits," metaphorical figures of uniqueness, the unusual, and the transgressive, challenge these norms, refusing to inhabit spaces that do not reflect their essence. This title, laden with irony and poetry, suggests an act of resistance: not all beings are destined to live by the same rules. The burrow ceases to be a home and becomes a symbol of structures that restrict creativity, free thought, and the exploration of the ethereal. The work connects with a search for the transcendental in a world that constantly pushes us toward the earthly. Through a visual language that blends the figurative and the abstract, the exhibition invites reflection on identities that escape imposed molds, reclaiming the freedom of those who, like blue rabbits, choose uncertain and luminous paths instead of seeking refuge in the predictable. As a whole, "Burrows Are Not for Blue Rabbits" positions itself as an artistic manifesto breaking away from the ordinary, an invitation to look beyond the shadows of the burrow and embrace the unknown as a space of possibility and transformation.
